letters to the editor

As advocates and supporters of people with disabilities and their independence, Tri-County Independent Living acknowledges and offers our whole-hearted applause for the work being done on the Crescent City Americans with Disabilities Act Project.

Many people would independently enjoy basic daily pleasures, such as visiting with friends or performing the necessities for living that include medical appointments and grocery shopping, if it were not for the structural barriers that hinder them.

While the construction of new sidewalks and curb cuts presents a temporary nuisance to the flow of automobile and pedestrian traffic, the increased accessibility makes a long-term difference in the lives of persons with mobility disabilities and all of us who know them. Good job, Del Norte County.

Tri-County Independent Living, serving Humboldt, Del Norte, and Trinity counties.
