Letter: Help us find a missing child

My name is Annelisee Huppert. I am reaching on behalf of my friend Sheila Reed. Her 14-year-old daughter, Katauna Whisenant, has been missing since July 2021.

We are wanting to spread awareness in our community and surrounding communities as well. We do have a report with Crescent City Police Department, as well as other law enforcement agencies. We are hoping you are able to share on social media and in the newspaper.

It’s important that our community is aware of missing indigenous women and children and how it is happening in our own community.

Being a mother myself I could not imagine what she is going through and I feel it’s important for the Del Norte County and Eureka area to come together and bring her home.

Sheila and myself did pass flyers out today at local stores. We plan to post more on the 101 highway and local hotels, etc.

I’ll be reaching out to local radio stations as well in hopes that we can bring more awareness to this missing child.
