letters to the editor

I am a senior at Del Norte High School and I’m writing this letter to raise awareness about children and teenagers easily getting hooked on products such as vape pens or cigarettes. Kids grow up to be the next generation, but with how the tobacco industry targets kids, this next generation is at risk of getting addicted to tobacco products. Even pharmacies, which are places where people go to get medicine and feel better, sell tobacco products.

It’s very important for children and teenagers to not use any tobacco products because at this age, we can easily get addicted. Getting hooked on products such as vape pens or cigarettes can really mess up our way of thinking. The most damaging reason as to why minors shouldn’t use tobacco products is the effects they have on our brains at this age. Our brains are still developing, and these products will mess with the development of it. I’ve had family members whose lives have been affected by tobacco use and wouldn't want to see my friends or any other kids suffer from the effects of tobacco.

Sincerely,

Kelly X.
