The June Election is almost here. If you haven’t already voted, and you live in District 5, I want to tell you why I am supporting Sue Masten for Supervisor.
First, I think she has done a great job since she was appointed in March, and she deserves to keep her post.
Because of her experience as the past President of the Klamath Chamber of Commerce and chair of the Board of Directors of the North Coast Small Business Development Center, she understands the needs of small business owners and what tools Del Norte County will require to thrive.
Her connections in Sacramento will help to make sure we fix Last Chance Grade once and for all. With the state surplus and federal infrastructure monies, that fix should be the most durable solution available.
Transportation reliability will be key to growing our recreation economy. Supervisor Masten works well with her colleagues on the Board. She listens to all sides and weighs all available information before making a decision.
As former Chair of the Yurok Tribe, she believes in public service and knows how to be a leader. Sue will make decisions for the best interests of all.
Supervisor Masten also supports removing the obsolete dams on the Klamath River. The dams block historic spawning habitat, diminish water quality and raise temperatures - all of which is killing salmon without providing any significant water to agriculture or domestic water supplies. This historic conservation and restoration project will bring international attention to our county.
She is a Supervisor with an eye for the future, and one we can all be proud of.
