1. Why is there a budgeted net loss that is $8,041,224 greater than actual net loss of $250,197?
2. Why are there several, both Revenue & Expense, items with actuals but no budget, some of which are from prior year (PY)?
3. Why was there $750,000 budgeted for Contingency but never used?
4. Where is the Drug Bust money of $375,000 reported in the newspaper?
5. Why are there $2,484,124 in budgeted Fund Transfers never accomplished?
6. Why are there $34,367,843 listed as Department Allotment expenses without any actuals, these are not all but the major Non-General Fund departments with an entry for Department Allotment? Shouldn’t they be a balance sheet item in Non-General Fund?
7. What type of Unit of Measure (statistic) does each department have?
8. Why aren’t the Units of Measure (statistics) included with the financials and the budget?
9. Why isn’t there a Budget Committee made up of the Public to provide transparency?
These are just a few of several questions related to the Fiduciary Responsibility of the Board of Supervisors. These are the most glaring, the remainder are department specific of which there are many more.
I have attempted to speak with the Auditor/Controller’s office regarding these questions to no avail.
