I wish to express my concern about our election. The local GOP picked out three people they wanted elected. Those people are Chris Howard, Patty Adams, and David Jones.
The problem with the GOP picks is the very fact those people are yes people. Chris Howard has been in office for eight years. Nothing has been done to improve our county. He has had his chance as District 3 Supervisor, but all he has offered is empty words and obtaining government money on projects that do not generate any income. His regards on Homelessness demonstrate nothing more than empty words. That needs to stop.
I believe Hank Akin would give the 3rd District a new perspective and a chance to recover from Howard politics. Hank understands the value of generating revenue instead of accepting handouts from our government that does not generate revenue.
Patty Adams was selected by Local GOP and is vying for District 4. She has never attended government meetings and offers a lot of “look at me and my education,” however, she has done absolutely nothing for this community in bringing businesses to Del Norte County with all her “knowledge.”
Joey Borges has been working in the trenches, providing services for our youth, and sits on a board of the Parent Teachers Association. With Borges in office, our county has a voice for our youth which is desperately needed, and he doesn’t heed the beckon call of those in control of the GOP.
Finally, the GOP picked David Jones for a candidate for 5th district. One does not have to look too far beyond the May 24, 2022 meeting of Measure R committee to see he has no clue of what he is doing. But, he is a yes man for the local GOP, same as Patty Adams.
Dean Wilson has been a Sheriff for 12 years. He has government knowledge and knows the in and outs of government. His tenacity alone will accomplish much for our County. I do believe Terry Colton and Sue Masten are viable candidates as well, however, I have not seen there governing skills.
It is time for a new change in government. Not a change of more yes men and women. I support Akin, Borges, and Wilson.
