As the former Executive Assistant to the Board and Superintendent of the Santa Rosa City Schools District, I support Mr. Michael Greer as the CA District 2 Assembly candidate. DNUSD and Del Norte County School Board Trustee Michael Greer is currently challenging Santa Rosa City Councilmember Chris Rogers for the open seat.
As a retired Special Education Transition Specialist, Mr. Greer, Crescent City has a proven track record collaboratively to bring positive change to his constituents. Greer held the position of Elected Director for Region 1 of the California County Boards of Education, representing Lake, Mendocino, Humboldt and Del Norte Counties. Lastly, Greer is psst president of the California Teachers Association, representing Special Education professionals.
According to Cal Matters, “In California,only 58 percent of 4th grade students can read at a basic level based on the most recent National of Education Progress (NAEP),” according to the Report.
As California youth literacy rates continue to drop exponentially, it is critical to have a strong advocate for coming generations. The public education system must strive to truly represent the best interests of the stakeholders rather than prevalent political narratives. With Mr. Greer’s voice in the Legislature, our children will actually stand a chance of future success.
Michael Greer has a dedicated history of public service, as he was elected to the City of Gridley Town Council at age 27. He holds over 15 years of lobbying experience in Washington, DC and Sacramento, focusing on critical issues such as education policies and Wildfire management. Michael Greer is a humble, wise, genuine and caring man of his word.
