I injured my left hand. It being in a cast and living alone, I was having trouble buttoning my shirts. I went to Walmart looking for a button hook. I asked one of the workers if they carried such a thing. After thinking about it for a few seconds the answer was “No.”

I started to leave when a lady came to me and asked, “Did I hear that you needed a button hook?” In answering yes, she said she just happened to have one and “You are welcome to have it. I received it from my grandmother.”

She wrote down my address and said she would bring it to me “Tomorrow morning.” At 10:20 the next morning she showed up, telling me her husband would not let her give away the heirloom button hook from her grandmother. He said he would go to his shop and make one. He did, she brought it to me and it works very good and I am very thankful for using this every day to help me get myself dressed.

There are some very nice and kind people in Del Norte County and for sure Katie and her husband are certainly two of them. Thank you so much for giving me, a total stranger, a helping hand when I needed it.
