The Del Norte High School girls’ soccer team lost to Fortuna High School’s Huskies, 5-0, on Wednesday.

That dropped the Warriors’ record to 0-2 in Humboldt-Del Norte Big 5 league play, 0-3 overall on the young season.

Assistant coach Brent Coble said contributing to the loss was a thin bench offering limited substitutes, a young and inexperienced squad, and physical conditioning not yet at its peak.

The Warriors’ next match will be Oct. 2 at South Fork in Miranda, California.

Earlier Wednesday afternoon, the Del Norte boys were edged by the Huskies, 1-0. The Warriors’ record now stands at 1-2.

Their next match is at 1 p.m. Saturday in Crescent City against an 0-3 Eureka Loggers team looking for its first win.
