Weather: High Wind Warning
The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for our area, which remains in effect from 1 p.m. Tuesday to 4 a.m. Wednesday.
WHAT
Southwest winds 35 to 45 mph with gusts between 55 and 75 mph expected. Strongest gusts are expected along ridges and mountain passes, but gusts between 55 and 65 mph possible even on the coast. This includes summits along Highway 101.
WHERE
Coastal Del Norte and Del Norte interior counties.
WHEN
From 1 p.m. Tuesday to 4 a.m. Wednesday.
IMPACTS
Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are possible. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if you must drive.
